Agradecemos a las tres artistas que hicieron parte de “On the Horizon · Must · Watch Artists, Bogotá”: Adriana Martínez Barón, Cristina Figueroa Palau y Alejandra Hernández Ávila. Su participación ha sido fundamental para abrir conversaciones sobre las nuevas direcciones del arte contemporáneo en Colombia. La obra de Cristina Figueroa Palau destaca por su aproximación crítica al cuerpo, el afecto y los territorios que habitamos; Adriana Martínez Barón investiga las relaciones entre lo cotidiano, la materia y los sistemas de representación, con una sensibilidad poética y rigurosa; mientras que Alejandra Hernández Ávila propone un universo visual poderoso, íntimo y simbólico, que conecta lo personal con lo colectivo. Ha sido un honor contar con sus voces en esta edición del programa, y celebramos el alcance y la relevancia de sus prácticas.

Nos emociona anunciar los resultados del proyecto “On the Horizon · Must · Watch Artists, Bogotá”, una selección curada de tres artistas que están marcando nuevos rumbos en la escena artística local. Tras una semana de votaciones abiertas, la artista Cristina Figueroa Palau ha sido la más votada por nuestra comunidad lectora. En reconocimiento, publicaremos un artículo especial sobre su obra, escrito por Daniel Santiago Salguero, tanto en la edición digital como en la impresa de INES_Magazina. Agradecemos profundamente a Cristina, Juliana y Manuela por compartir su trabajo con nosotrxs, y a Daniel por proponer esta potente terna de artistas imprescindibles.

Daniel, colaborador regular de INES_Magazina, ha sido el curador invitado de esta edición de On the Horizon. Su mirada crítica y su compromiso con el arte emergente han sido clave en la selección de estas tres artistas y en la construcción del enfoque editorial de esta entrega.

Their participation has been essential in opening up meaningful conversations about the new directions of contemporary art in Colombia.
Cristina Figueroa Palau’s work stands out for its critical approach to the body, affect, and the territories we inhabit. Adriana Martínez Barón explores the relationships between everyday life, materiality, and systems of representation with poetic and rigorous sensitivity. Meanwhile, Alejandra Hernández Ávila offers a powerful, intimate, and symbolic visual universe that bridges the personal with the collective. It has been an honor to feature their voices in this edition of the program, and we celebrate the impact and relevance of their artistic practices.

We are excited to announce the results of the “On the Horizon · Must · Watch Artists, Bogotá” project—a curated selection of three artists who are redefining the local art scene. After a week of open voting, Cristina Figueroa Palau received the highest number of votes from our readership. In recognition of this, a special article about her work, written by Daniel Santiago Salguero, will be published in both the digital and print editions of INES_Magazina.

INES_Magazina es una plataforma de crítica de arte con sede en Nueva York, comprometida con el pensamiento interseccional, decolonial y transdisciplinario. Nuestro trabajo parte de la convicción de que el arte no puede desvincularse de los contextos en los que se produce. Por eso, buscamos generar espacios de reflexión que conecten las prácticas artísticas con temas como raza, género, clase y colonialidad, entendiendo el arte como un campo en constante disputa y transformación.

“En el Horizonte: Artistas Imperdibles de 2025”, es un programa que promueve el trabajo de artistas potentes y brinda reconocimiento y proyección a creadorxs que demuestran solidez en su práctica. Nos enfocamos especialmente en artistas mujeres y no heteronormativxs en etapa media de su carrera, cuyas obras abren nuevas posibilidades de lectura, sensibilidad y pensamiento crítico.

Para la edición Bogotá, colombia, Daniel Santiago Salguero, autor de la columna Spoken Portrait Column, ha propuesto tres artistas: Adriana Martínez Barón, Alejandra Hernández Ávila y Cristina Figueroa Palau. En esta página encontrarás información sobre cada una de ellas. El objetivo es que puedas conocer su trabajo en profundidad y votar por aquella que despierte mayor interés. La artista más votada será la protagonista de un artículo crítico escrito por Daniel, que será publicado en INES_Magazina, ampliando la visibilidad de su obra y aportando una lectura crítica desde nuestra perspectiva editorial.

Este proceso participativo busca activar diálogos entre artistas, crítica y audiencias. “En el Horizonte” refleja el compromiso de INES_Magazina con una crítica de arte que no solo analiza, sino que también imagina y construye nuevas formas de entender el arte y su lugar en el mundo.

INES_Magazina is an art criticism platform based in New York. It is committed to intersectional, decolonial, and transdisciplinary thinking. Art criticism is a powerful tool for expanding analytical frameworks and enriching the understanding of contemporary art from multiple social, political, and cultural dimensions.

Our work stems from the conviction that art cannot be separated from the contexts in which it is produced. Therefore, we strive to create spaces for reflection that connect artistic practices with issues such as race, gender, class, and coloniality, understanding art as a field in constant dispute and transformation.

“En el Horizonte: Must-See Artists of 2025” is a program that promotes the work of powerful artists and offers recognition and exposure to creators who demonstrate strength in their practice. We focus on women and non-heteronormative artists in the mid-career stage, whose works open new possibilities for interpretation, sensitivity, and critical thought.

For the Bogotá, Colombia edition, Daniel Santiago Salguero, author of the Spoken Portrait Column, has proposed three artists: Adriana Martínez Barón, Alejandra Hernández Ávila, and Cristina Figueroa Palau. You will find information about each of them on this page. The goal is to get to know their work in depth and vote for the one that sparks your interest.
